FOLDING:
Folding
your pieces is when your castle will
begin to come alive. This is the point
in construction when your mind starts
to shrink. You begin seeing the castle
as if your were in miniature scale to
the castle. Folding should be easy enough
after you have done your scoring, since
card stock will fold along its weakest
areas (your score lines).
To make the sharpest, straightest folds,
it is a good idea to use a ruler or
edge. (This is especially true if
you are using paper instead of card
stock.) Place the piece in front of
you on the table with the your ruler
(or straight edge) on top of the piece
with the fold line along the edge of
the ruler farthest from you.
With
your thumbs, hold the ruler in place
and use your finger tips - or a small
flat tool like the tip of your exacto
blade - to lift the far side of the
card stock and pull it toward you, pressing
firmly along the hard edge and creating
a sharp, straight fold!
Once
all of your folds have been started
in this manner, you should remove the
ruler and go along the piece, folding
each crease all the way over. This will
strengthen the folds and give your finished
castle a sharp crisp outline!
