This
is the gate house for a fantasy castle we are designing
based on Scottish Octagon castles. The PDF download
consists of two sheets.
The issue under scrutiny is how to lay out the floor
deck for the top of the towers. In the current layout
(v2.2, sheet#1), the inner battlements are attached
to the piece as a continuous matching strip the
the "outer face". The deck is intended
to be pushed up from within to seat it in its final
position.
The
advantage to this design is improved alignment of
the battlements and crenelations. The down side
to this design is that a builder is not able to
press the bottom tabs of the tower from within when
gluing down to the foundation.
The
alternate lay-out (v2.2, sheet#2 is ) the more traditional
way of presenting these pieces. The inner faces
of the battlements are individual fold ups on the
floor deck piece.
