So
here is a desk-top fortress that any Goonie, Geek,
or Nerd can print, cut, and glue together between
other daily adventures!
If you are an adult who deals with people
most of your day, you need a Fortress of Solitude
- a place to take yourself where no one can find
you! If you are not yet an adult, here is something
to keep you out of trouble for a few minutes!
This Desk-Top Fortress is designed to be small
enough to keep out where you can see it without
being too big and "in the way", while
at the same time having pieces large enough for
even those of us with two "Left Thumbs"!
If this design fails for you on either of these
points, PLEASE let me know! Use the contact
form to send me your input.
What
you will need:
- An
Exacto Knife, or Scissors
- A
Ruler (or a good straight edge,
preferably metal)
- Glue
(White
glue, like Elmer's )
- Paper
(Regular paper,
whatever is in your printer)
- Access
to a Printer
- The
cardboard from a Legal or Steno pad, or a cereal
box (as a base to glue your fortress to)
Here
is the design layout for your
Desktop
Fortress
You
will see that this design contains
4 wall pannels with Tower Features at
one end of each.
The 5th piece is the inner tower, or Keep.
The
display looks broken, but it prints just fine!
You
can save this image anyway you like, or print it
right from the browser.
Print it out and place the printed sheet back into
the printer.
* If this is your FIRST EVER Paper Castle, be sure
to TURN your paper (not flip) so that TOP will still
be TOP, and the blank side is facing down! This
way, you will have the background on ONE side, and
the outline to work with on the other side!

Now get your background here
as a page sized jpg... (right click and save
as, or left click and print from your browser)
or
go
here for a repeating pattern in a browser
window and print from browser.
Remember to print in "DRAFT " quality
so that your paper doesn't become supersaturated
!!
Now cut, fold, glue, and enjoy your
palace of escape!

| I
like to print both sides of the paper so that
I see stone on the inside of the castle, too!
So, here's a recent addition for repeat visitors: |
|
This
is a JPEG image of the above "Desk-Top
Fortress" outline, superimposed on the
Light Rock background texture. You may single
click the image to open it in a new browser
window and print directly from your browser,
or save it to your own computer. Remember
to print "Draft" quality when using
standard paper!
If this design fails for you on any level,
PLEASE let me know!
Use the contact
form to send me your input.
THANKS!

Here are a few graphics
sites so you can look for different backgrounds
to can try out for different looks and maybe even
ground cover ideas!
After
you build your fortress, tuck it into an inconspicuous
corner of
your life where you can gaze to it for escape in
times of mental need!
...OR, put it out in the open and make your OWN
fantasy. Whatever works for you!
